Why does MO have to be sooo far away?!

My neices were home for a few days back the first week of August. We don't get to see them as much as we would like because they live in Missouri...ug. That's a 14+ hour drive. The last time we got to see them was actually for our wedding almost two years ago now. It amazed me at how much they had grown since the last time I had seen them.
Emma is the oldest at 8. She is a tomboy through and through. She is just like her mother. Very straight laced. She thinks things through before she does them. Extremely intelligent and helpful.

April is 7. She should have been Kevin's daughter. She is a tumbleweed, Energetic, constantly on the move. A dare-devil who loves attention. She is very intelligent but hates school. Erinn said she reminds her so much of Kevin at times, it makes her sick. Laughing of course. Kevin and Erinn fought like cats and dogs growing up...what do you expect when you are only 14 months apart?!

I was so excited that we got to spend time with them. They came over Sunday night and had a sleep over with Aunt Haley. Although they changed our names to Uncle Spider and Aunt Snake (because I used to have a pet snake, and Kevin used to have a pet tarantula, blah, that thing still gives me the willies!) They make me laugh with the crazy things that come out of their mouths. Anyways, back to the sleepover. We painted each others names (more like my entire hands and feet) and did each other's makeup...you should have seen me! Wow. Then we put on a disney movie and cuddled on the couch. At midnight I finally convinced the girls that it was bedtime. We had to get up early in the morning to go swimming at my parent's house. Emma stated, matter-of-factly, "That will only give us 7 hours of sleep. We had better hurry up and fall asleep! That isn't much time at all." What did I tell you, this little girl is a mini adult. I had a hell of a time waking her up the next morning, and true to her mother's warnings, she starts swining when you try to wake her up. April was up at 5:30. She just decided to turn on the tv and watch cartoons til the rest of the house was up. Amazing.
It was sad when they had to go back to MO. I really wish they lived closer. We are going out there in November for Thanksgiving. Kevin is going to go hunting. Emma got her first buck this past year (at the age of 7!) And April is hoping that Uncle Spider will help her get her first one this year. Here are some pics! Emma has the short hair, April the long...too cute!
